KC Montero Talks About Ex-Wife Geneva Cruz' Sudden Departure From 'Survivor 4'

ONLY TEN CASTAWAYS remain in “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown”: former child actor Chuckie Dreyfus, radio jock KC Montero, TV host Gino de la Pena, actress Mara Yokohama, rugby players John Odulio and Arnold Aninion, actor Arthur Solinap, Starstruck’s Steff Prescott, and comedians Maey Bautista and Betong Sumaya. GMA-7 presented them to the press and only Arnold is missing since he’s currently in New Zealand to spend the holidays with his parents there.

The Bulan and Tala tribes are now gone and they merged to form Tribe Apolaki or Sun god. They were treated to a feast overflowing with food like lechon, pizza, cheeseburger, batchoy and many more, with fire dancer Rachel Lobangco performing for them. Survivor 3’s Aubrey Miles also showed up as a special guest.

We asked the castaways who they think will eventually win and most of them say it’s KC Montero simply because he’s strong, smart but quiet. How does KC feel about this? “I hope they’re right as I went there determined to win, but everyone deserves to win,” he says. “If I’d pick just one, though, it has to be Gino because he’s very honest. After Geneva left, we became good friends. But the one I want to win is Chuckie. He has the best reason for playing as he needs the money for his mom who’s stricken with cancer.”

What did he miss the most while in the island? “Pizza! That’s why when we came back, I ate a whole pizza. But I now also miss the quietness in the island. In the city, it’s too loud, there are many distractions.” What important thing did he realize while in the island? “That I don’t really need much to survive. I don’t really care about not being able to shower or the lack of food.”

How’s ex-wife Geneva Cruz doing after she quickly quit from the show? “She’s doing good now. She’s leaving for the U.S. on Christmas for a show and record a new album.”

Did he have an inkling Geneva would quit easily? “None. I thought we’d have a good time.”

How did he feel about the negative remarks against her in the net? “I knew it’s gonna happen and I wanted to protect her. Why she quit is really a personal issue between us. She wants something to happen but it didn’t.”

What happens after “Survivor”? “I’ll just continue what I’m doing. I have a steady job on radio and ‘Party Pilipinas’. I also have several businesses like Adinfluent, a social media agency; a boutique in Makati, Tilogy, that will soon have branches in malls; WelovePost, an editing studio; and TBar in Landmark Makati.”
