He credits the cast of ‘Kung Aagawin’ for its success. “Magagaling sila lahat, sina Michelle Madrigal and Carla Abellana as the warring sisters and Mike Tan as the man who comes between them. They’re all very competent and I’m amazed at their ability to sustain their acting in long scenes delivering long lines. Kung minsan, we do three to four takes of the same scene and nakakagulat the way they maintain their emotions all throughout. Mike has improved a lot. Noong una, manipis ang boses niya so I told him to lower it at na-modulate naman niya. Sa lahat ng soaps na ginawa ko, dito ako pinakamasaya kasi naging maganda ang bonding namin ng entire cast, staff and crew.”
“Legacy” is his first primetime soap and he’s also pleased with his huge cast. “Sa first week, we start with Dennis Trillo as a man with three wives: Bianca King, Chynna Ortaleza and Maritoni Fernandez. As an older man, Dennis will be played by Robert Sena, Bianca by Jackielou Blanco, Chynna by Cherie Gil, while Maritoni remains herself. Heart Evangelista will be the daughter kay Jackielou, Lovi Poe kay Cherie and Alessandra de Rossi kay Maritoni. The family owns a big company manufacturing beauty products called Legacy and their model is Carla Abellana. Bianca, Lovi and Alex will later fight for the inheritance na maiiwan ng dad nila. They have four leading men involved with them: Geoff Eigenmann, Sid Lucero, Mike Tan and Mark Bautista. Kasama rin dito si Dominic Roco as the man who’ll marry Bianca and he’ll later be played by Richard Quan pagtanda niya.”
Direk Jay is a well known maker of indie films like “Lalaki sa Parola” and “Lihim ni Antonio”. His only regret is that since he’s so busy with TV work now, he has to shelve a new movie he has started shooting. “Sana nga, mabalikan ko one of these days,” he says.
