Mother Lily Thinks Maricar Reyes Might Win Best Actress As The Blind Mother In 'Shake 13'

MARICAR REYES wants to correct those who think that “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13” is her first horror flick. “Actually, it’s my second,” she says. “The first one was also with Regal, ‘White House’, where I played a wily TV executive who manipulates a psychic, Gabby Concepcion, and the contestants in a reality show requiring them to sleep inside a haunted house in Baguio.”

She thinks that it’s due to her convincing performance in that movie that Mother Lily chose to get her again to play an even meatier role in the “Tamawo” episode of “Shake 13”. “This is more demanding kasi bulag ako rito. It’s not easy to play blind, mind you. I’d like to thank our director Richard Somes, na nakatrabaho ka na rin sa ABS-CBN, for guiding me well. It also helps that my co-star, Zanjoe Marudo, really supported me well. He plays my second husband in the story who’s cruel to my son sa first marriage ko, played by child actor Bugoy Carino.”

Maricar just won as best actress in the Cinema One Digital Filmfest for her performance as in incorruptible lawyer in “Anatomiya ng Korupsyon”. Mother Lily says she might win another award for her persuasive portrayal of the blind mother in “Tamawo”. “Magaling siya,” says the Regal producer.

“Thank you,Mother, but naku, hindi ko iniisip yun,” says Maricar. “Basta ang gusto ko, matakot ang viewers sa episode namin.”

On TV, Maricar stars with Piolo Pascual in ABS-CBN’s “Padre de Pamilya” that airs next year. She’s also active as a volunteer in Right Start, an organization that offers a feeding program for deprived children and helps in educating them.
