SARAH LAHBATI is jubilant when informed that her launching show, “Kokak”, has been extended from 13 to 16 weeks since it’s rating very high. “Thank God,” she says. “I’m really thankful kasi puro positive ang natatanggap kong feedback about my performance as Kara, the girl who turns into a frog kapag nababasa ang paa niya.”
We visited Sarah while taping the show at Il Terazzo on Morato Ave. In the scene they’re taping, she and JC Tiuseco work in a mall as a costumed Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, with Frencheska Farr, who plays JC’s sister, as their elf. Their director, Ricky Davao, should be called Director Laglag since he’s the one who tells stories about the guys who visit Sarah and Frencheska on the set of “Kokak” when they keep on denying to the press that they have suitors. Sarah had to cover Ricky’s mouth to stop him from revealing anything.
“Kokak” is extended from 13 to 16 weeks so they’re all happy. Ricky says he admires Sarah’s dedication to her craft. “Sometimes, happy na ako sa crying scenes niya, pero siya, hindi pa, and wants another take so I’m the one who tell her na okay na yun as we need to move to another location.”
“I cry about 16 to 18 times a day so at times, nahihirapan na talaga ko umiyak,” says Sarah. “I want all my crying scenes to be convincing, so I always listen to music to establish the right mood.”
One scene she felt so uncomfortable doing is the kissing scene with TJ Trinidad. “I’ve never had a boyfriend so I’m not used to it.” TJ is so lucky to have tasted her lips first ahead of her suitors, Derrick Monasterio and Martin Escudero. Derrick Monasterio has been told to stop wooing Sarah.
2011 is good for her and she wishes 2012 would be better. “My wish is to be able to do an indie movie with me playing a real demanding role. Sana may indie director who’d given me the chance.” Sarah is now also part of the PLDT Wifi Zone Raid Crew and she attended their party for the press. She drew the winner of their grand prize, a laptop, won by Nora Calderon.
