RING OUT the old and ring in the new. 2011 is the year that Puerto Princesa’s Underground River is named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. It’s also the year of Typhoon Sendong, of former Pres. Gloria Arroyo being arrested for corruption while in office, the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, the Arab Spring that eventually led to death of Gadhafi and the Occupy Wall St. protest against the inordinate greed of capitalists.
Before 2011 says a final goodbye, let’s have one last glimpse into the happenings of the year just past in local showbusiness. But naturally, people are most interested in the love life of celebrities, especially with those who split up from whom. There are so many breakups this year, most of them ugly.
The most talked about and messiest splits are those of Piolo Pascual-KC Concepcion and Rhian Ramos-DJ Mo.
A tearful KC had herself interviewed on TV by Boy Abunda and although she didn’t actually say that they broke up because Piolo is gay, most people say it’s so easy to read between the lines and come up with that kind of a conclusion. (Read, KC Concepcion On Why She Broke Up With Piolo Pascual.) Instead of answering KC, Piolo chose to shut up and just help Sendong victims, complete with media coverage.
As for Rhian and DJ Mo, they never admitted they were on and kept on saying they’re just close friends. In May, they had word war on Twitter revealing that they were just lying and have indeed gone steady. Months later, DJ Mo uploaded a damaging video on the net showing him crying crocodile tears and saying Rhian had their baby aborted in Singapore. Rhian decided to take a leave from showbiz while Mo escaped to New York after Rhian and GMA-7 threatened to sue him. More recently, he uploaded another incriminating video on the net showing him and Rhian kissing and hugging with Rhian the more aggressive one on top of him.
