And who are the stars who’ll shine in 2012? So many stars were given breaks this year on TV: Lauren Young in “Mula sa Puso”, Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes in “Mara Clara”, Melissa Rick in “Nasaan Ka, Elisa”, Kylie Padilla in “Blusang Itim”, Louise de los Reyes in “Alakdana”, Sarah Lahbati in “Kokak”. Kathryn and Julia both hit it big and they’ll now have their solo shows, Kathryn in “You’re Always in My Heart” and Julia in “Walang Hanggan” where she’s paired with the much older Coco Martin.
Kylie’s show was also a hit so she’s given a new one, “The Good Daughter” (formerly “Prodigal Daughter”, which we think is a much better title). Sarah’s “Kokak” is still rating well on the air. Other newbies this year include Isabelle Daza (daughter of Gloria Diaz), Diego Loyzaga (son of Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga) and Kiko Estrada (son of Gary Estrada and Cheska Diaz).
One other newcomer who is definitely malakas ang dating is Solenn Heussaff and Regal is determined to give her a big movie in 2012.
Among the GMA-7 Tween stars, many writers are placing their bets on Derrick Monasterio, Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Bea Binene and Kristoffer Martin as the ones most likely to make it. Starstruck runnerup Rocco Nacino is also shining brightly and has left behind even the likes of Mark Herras and his colleagues Steven Silva and Enzo Pineda.
At ABS-CBN, they’re banking on Enrique Gil, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Angeline Quinto, Paulo Avelino (a transferee from GMA-7), JM de Guzman and Daniel Padilla.
At TV5, they’re best bets are Jasmine Curtis Smith (introduced in “Utol Kong Hoodlum”), Eula Caballero, AJ Muhlach and Aki Torio of “Bagets”, Kean Cipriano of “PS I Love You” and Ritz Azul of “Glamorosa”.
Let’s all pray that 2012 will truly be a better year not only for showbusiness but for all of us. Please, no more calamities like Sendong in Northern Mindanao.
