PIA GUANIO was grilled by “Showbiz Central” co-hosts Raymond Gutierrez, John Lapus and Rufa Mae Quinto about her pregnancy. She said she and her hubby Steve Mago first suspected she’s preggy when they were in Hongkong and her monthly period didn’t come as expected. On January 1, they bought a pregnancy test and found out that it’s positive. “Noong una, in denial pa kaming dalawa, ‘No way’. But I needed to find out right away so that I could take some measures, stop certain habits and prepare my body for the incoming life,” she said.
To make sure, she took a second test the next morning and the result is positive again, so on January 5, she officially announced in “Eat Bulaga” that she’s 5-weeks pregnant. Their respective families were so happy about it. “In fact, Steve’s parents were crying pa nu’ng nagpunta kami sa bahay nila that same morning on January first. The four of us, we're all crying,” Pia adds.
A visit to the doctor confirmed later that she’s really pregnant. Outside of her family, the first people she informed about her pregnancy are her manager June Torrejon and “Eat Bulaga” co-hosts Joey de Leon and Ryan Agoncillo. She and Steve both want to have a baby boy as their “panganay”. “Kasi my brother, puro girls na ang mga anak. Steve’s brother is also having a baby girl. So for a change and if God wills it, we want a baby boy naman sana. Steve already has a name for him, Alessandro, with Ali or Sandro as the nickname.”
When her tummy becomes too obvious, she plans to lie low in showbiz. “I’ll consult Vicky Morales kasi she’s the master when it comes to hiding her tummy. We’ll see. I think makakaya ko naman kahit anong kondisyon ko, pero baka ayaw na ng mga boss ko. I also have to be careful with my working out. Puede pa raw ang swimming and upper body workout.”
Both she and Steve plan to have only one child. “That’s still the plan, but we’ll see, I don’t know. Right now, I don’t know what to expect kasi wala pa kong discomforts, cravings or morning sickness, for which I’m really thankful. I hope it stays that way.”
