Claudine Barretto's Manager On The Warpath Against Dolly Anne Carvajal

SHIRLEY KUAN as a talent manager has always stayed in the sidelights. This time, though, as manager of Claudine Barretto, she’s on the warpath against columnist Dolly Anne Carvajal.

“A lie that goes uncorrected soon becomes the truth,” she tells some writers over dinner at Nitz Miralles’ birthday party.

“I’m not here to pick a fight. I’m not even going to ask Dolly Anne to retract her story. I just want to tell the truth and let the public be the judge. On July 29, she wrote in her Inquirer column that Carmina Villaroel walked out of a commercial shoot after getting irked with Claudine’s endless demands like getting a bigger dressing room, getting a white long-sleeved shirt, taking a nap and delivering the longer lines in the commercial. Carmina denied on TV such a thing happened. The last time she did a commercial with Claudine was for Lactum three years ago, and nothing bad happened between them. The agency’s account supervisor himself, Raffy Parcon, wrote Dolly Anne to refute what she reported, saying the commercial shoot then, which included Jodi Sta. Maria, went on smoothly and there was no disagreement at all as its stars were all cooperative. Dolly Anne answered and said it’s a clear case of damage control, so it’s clear that she knows what she wrote is damaging to our clients. She even added that Lactum can milk the issue for all it’s worth since she’s lactose intolerant. Well, she’s lactose intolerant because milk doesn’t mix well with alcohol. I’m sure there’s malice in what she wrote because why write about a shoot that happened three years ago and make it appear that it just happened recently? It’s not even a blind item. She wove stories that didn’t happen when it’s so easy to check with Zoren Legaspi, her co-host in their TV5 show. She always calls Carmina, bakit that time, di niya tinanong man lang? I want to prove here na just because you’re writing for a broadsheet, kailangang paniwalaan ka na ng tao. Ilang beses na niyang sinulat, pati sa Facebook, that she stands by her story. Bawal pala siyang ikorek kahit nakuryente siya. Siya, may regular platform, e kami, wala, so I’m now explaining our side of the story. I’m left with no recourse because it’s very negative for Claudine, who’s now in Europe travelling with her husband, Raymart Santiago, at walang kamalay-malay sa mga nangyayari rito. If she’d read the comments of Inquirer readers to her, Dolly Anne would see na people think she’s the one milking the issue and not the ad agency or us, gaya raw ng di niya matapos-tapos na pagbanggit sa mga naging syota niya like William Martinez, Joey Marquez, Robin Padilla. She’s even told to stop name-dropping her mom in self defense because respect and credibility are not hereditary.”

Dolly Anne is welcome to air her side here.
