Director Yam Laranas Proud To Be The First Pinoy Director His Film Will Be Released Commercially In North America

DIRECTOR YAM Laranas says “The Road” is the first all-Filipino movie to be commercially released in North America (including Canada) through Free Style Releasing who president, Mark Brode, believe so much in its commercial possibilities. “Yam did a fantastic job in doing this film,” he says. “The performances are great, it’s very scary and I’m sure horror fans will like it.”

After its theatrical release, the movie will also be released on video and will be made available globally through subscription and online distribution platforms like Netflix, iTunes, Video on Demand and Amazon Prime. “Actually, yun ang bigger market ngayon,” says Yam. “But we have to have a theatrical release muna so people will be aware of our movie.”

“The Road” will not just be released in communities with plenty of Pinoys but cross-country in about 50 various markets and in main cineplexes. The film will also be joining the 30th Brussels International Fantastic Filmfest (in competition) in Belgium from April 5-17. One of the biggest genre festivals in Europe, it’s a venue for horror, thriller and sci-films since 1983 with topnotch directors like Wes Craven (“Nightmare on Elm St.”) and Christopher Nolan (“Dark Knight”) participating. “The Road” will also compete in the 8th Fantaspos International Fantastic FIlmfest in Porto Alegre, Brazil from Mary 4 to 20. Here’s wishing “The Road” will take home some awards from those festivals.
