VIVA ENTERTAINMENT has a potential gold mine in Charlie Green, the Fil-Brit boy discovered in “Britain’s Got Talent”. He has all the making of a heartthrob. We interviewed him last Wednesday, the day before his 15th birthday on February 16. He just came from Medical City where he was confined overnight due to viral infection. “I’m okay now,” he says. “I’m flying tomorrow to Davao for a concert there.”
An only child of a British dad and a Cebuana mom, he has a half-brother with his dad who’s now 45 years old and based in Thailand. He has a 20-year old half sister with his mom. It’s his dad who sings and he was trained listening to the songs of older singers like Frank Sinatra, Cliff Richard and Tom Jones. But his favorite now is Michael Buble. Among younger singers, he favors Fil-Am Bruno Mars. With local singers, his faves are Sarah Geronimo, Billy Crawford and Martin Nievera.
He’s home to launch his new album with Viva Records, “Rainbow”, which has 12 songs recorded in Italy and the U.S., to be released also in Europe, South America, U.K., Japan and China. It has 6 originals: “Zoom Zoom Zoom”, “Just My Type”, “Chica Yaya”, “Infatuation”, “Liquid Ice” and the title song “Rainbow”. The revivals are “Daydream Believer” by the Monkees, “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac”, “Reach Out” by the Four Tops, “Kumusta Ka” by Nonoy Zuniga, “Sukiyaki” by Kyu Sakamoto, and “Somos Novios” (a duet with 16-year old Mexican singer-actress Danna Paola.)
Now standing 5’9”, he has never had a girlfriend. Would he like his first GF to be a Filipina or European? “I’m not particular about the race. The more important thing is that I love her.”
Would he be willing to try acting? “Why not? If someone would offer me a good project. But first, I have to learn how to speak Tagalog more fluently.”
