ALEX GONZAGA did a rousing live rendition of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” and she really rocked the crowd at the last night of the Panagbenga Flowerfest in Baguio. She also wore a hot figure-hugging outfit and can easily give her Ate Toni a run for her money as a singer-performer. Earlier, we talked to Alex at the Baguio Country Club presscon hosted by TV5 for her and her co-TV5 Princesses Arci Munoz, Eula Caballero, Danita Paner and Ritz Azul.
Alex denied the rumor that “Juicy”, which she hosts with Cristy Fermin and IC Mendoza, will soon be axed. “Kaya lang, halos ala una na kami pinapalabas so we’re hoping we can be shown naman in an earlier slot dahil sayang naman ang pagpapagod naming mapaganda ang show,” she sighs.
Isn’t there any rivalry between her and the other TV5 Princesses considering she’s senior than all of them? “Wala namang competition between us kasi lahat naman kami, naaalagaang mabuti with our own shows. Ako nga, aside from ‘Juicy’, I’m hosting the new Sunday game show, ‘Toink’, with Chris Tiu.”
So how’s it working with Chris? “Mabait siya, very approachable. He said bibigyan daw niya ko ng lahat ng products na ine-endorse niya. So, sana, totohanin niya.”
Alex says she’ll graduate this March from the University of Asia and the Pacific as a humanities major. “Six years kong kinuha kasi nga di ako full load. Binigyan na ako ng ultimatum na kapag di ko pa raw tinapos, mapo-forfeit lahat ng units na kinuha ko. Sana nga, di na ko sasama mag-march sa graduation but my mom says sayang naman daw, ngayon ko lang mae-experience mag-graduate in college.”
The last time we interviewed her when she signed up with Viva, she said she has never had a boyfriend. How about now? “Muntik nang magkaroon, pero nawala pa. Kasi we both got so busy. He’s a law student sa Ateneo, so super busy siya. E, ako rin naman, walang time then as I was also busy sa ‘PS I Love You’, so lie low muna. Four years na kaming friends. Two years na lang, lawyer na siya. Kung kami talaga, di balikan niya ko. Sana, wag muna siyang makakita ng ibang magiging girlfriend.”
