JESSICA BUGAY SANCHEZ, a Fil-Mexican-American 16-year old girl living in Chula Vista, California, is currently making waves as one of the finalists of the current season of “American Idol” because of her bravura renditions of Jennifer Hudson’s “Love You, I Do” and the late Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. Her mom is from Barangay San Juan in Orani, Bataan and “Showbiz Central” sent a crew there to interview her paternal grandpa, Eduardo Bugay.
“Bata pa siya, talagang gusto na niyang sumali sa ‘American Idol’,” he said. “Una siyang sumali sa ‘America Got Talent’ when she was 7. Sa ‘American Idol’ kasi, 16 ang age limit.”
Jessica has never been to the Philippines but her kababayans in Bataan, where billboards proclaiming their support for her are posted everywhere, were interviewed about her. They all said they’re proud of her and they’re praying she’d win in “American Idol”.
