Angeline Quinto Delighted To Be Brian Mcknight'S Front Act At Araneta Concert

ANGELINE QUINTO is so delighted to be the front act of Brian McKnight in his Araneta Coliseum concert on March 16, Friday. “Sobrang natuwa ako when I was informed about it pero sobrang kinakabahan din ako kasi first time kong mag-concert with an international singer,” she says at the special presscon hosted for her by Edgar Mangahas of MJM Productions who’s producing the show. “Sana magkaintindihan kami kasi pinoproblema ko na kung paano ako magsasalita ng diretsong Ingles. Paghahandaan ko talaga yan kasi fan niya talaga ako. Noong bata pa ako, gusto ko na yung songs niyang ‘One Last Cry’ at ‘Back at One’.”

What will she do in the show? “Kakanta ako ng isang solo number, tapos may duet kami.” She doesn’t know yet what songs she’ll sing, but given the choice, which songs would she pick? “For my solo number, sana Tagalog, kung puede, kasi sobrang comfortable talaga ko sa Tagalog songs. Kundi puede, ano na lang, ‘Kunin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin’, pero English version,” she laughs.

How about for their duet? “Gusto ko yung ‘I Finally Found Someone’, kung puede.”

It’s been a year since she won in “Star Power” last February 20, 2011. What changes have happened to her life since then? 

“Dumami po kamag-anak namin. Naging close sila sa’min ng mama ko. Umalis na kami sa Sampaloc kasi yung car na napanalunan ko, walang parking doon. Nagre-rent kami ngayon ng condo sa Mandaluyong. Ang dream ko, bumili ng sarili naming bahay at lupa. May Louis Vuitton at Gucci bags na rin ako.”

Is it true the movie she’s doing with Coco Martin, “You Light Up My Life”, was shelved? “Natigil lang dahil naging busy siya taping ‘Walang Hanggan’, pero ni-resume na namin ngayong March, directed by Jerome Pobocan. Puro mabibigat na artista ang kasama ko like Albert Martinez and Eula Valdes. Tinutulungan ako ni Coco sa acting ko.”

She’ll be busy with shows abroad starting March 27 when she leaves for Hawaii as part of the Star Magic 20th Anniversary show in Waikiki. In April, she has a U.S. tour with Marcelito Pomoy then a European tour with Jovit Baldivino. “Ginagawa ko na rin ang second album ko. Ang dream ko is makasama ko sana roon sa duets si Regine Velasquez at si Ogie Alcasid.”
