WE VISITED the taping of “Legacy” at Timberland Sport and Nature Club at the mountains of San Mateo last Friday and was immediately won by the fabulous beauty of the place where you get a great view of the entire Metro-Manila, notably the Ortigas and Makati skylines. We went there for the birthday celebration of Geoff Eigenmann who brought all the food. But we never got to talk him as he was so busy on cam. Instead, we got to talk with cast members Lovi Poe, Heart Evangelista, Alex de Rossi, Mike Tan, Maritoni Fernandez and Liza Lorena, and Geoff’s special visitor, Carla Abellana.
The “Legacy” press visit was in time for the change in the show’s time slot. It’ll now be aired earlier, right after “Biritera”. “My Beloved” will take its place just before “Dongyi”. “Salamat naman ,” says Lovi. “Kasi my 82-year old grandma, laging napupuyat waiting for our show. Ngayon, mas maaga na siyang makakapanood.”
Lovi considers “Legacy” a big blessing. “Grabe ang positive feedback sa show and sa role ko as Natasha kahit saan ako magpunta,” she says. “I think nag-click si Natasha kasi totoong tao siya. Mabait siya sa mga taong mahal niya but doon sa mga ayaw sa kanya, palaban siya and shows how she feels.”
What are her most memorable scenes in the show? “Una when Alex de Rossi put drugs on my drink at nabangag ako’t naospital. Then when Cherie Gil, who plays my adoptive mom, sinubsob ang mukha ko sa basurahan. I also like my reunion scene with my biological mom, Shamaine Centenera, who sold me for P35,000 as a child. Ang gaganda ng feedback sa scenes na yan. I really love ‘Legacy’ for giving me the chance to work with Ms. Cherie Gil. I was starstruck noong una so I had to overcome it. She turned out to be so sweet and so supportive in our scenes together. Dahil din dito, naging very close friends kami nina Alex and Heart Evangelista. Maganda bonding namin and we even go out together, just the three of us. Sa set, we work so well, walang sapawan, laging bigayan.”
How come she continues to be linked with Ronald Singson as they’re still seen together? “That can’t be helped as we have the same circle of friends so we get to see each other, but it doesn’t mean we’re together again. He understands my decision to focus more on my career kasi na-realized ko talagang I don’t wanna have any distractions from it now that it’s going on so well.”
It’s said in her next movie with Regal, tentatively titled “Bride and Lover”, she might have a lesbian scene with Jennylyn Mercado in their roles as best friends who later become rivals. Is she ready for this? “I haven’t read the script, but okay lang, basta the story is good at macha-challenge ako. I’m game for anything kasi people now naman are smart enough to know we’re just doing it as part of our work.”
