In the story, his first girlfriend is Krystal Reyes, but she dies in an accident and her heart is transplanted to Kris Bernal, who then wins Mark’s attention. “Nailang ako noong una kay Krystal kasi child actress pa lang siya when we first worked together sa ‘Mga Mata ni Angelita’. Tapos ngayon, girlfriend ko na siya rito. Galit sa’kin ang father niya ritong si Gardo Versoza as she’s just 16 and I’m supposed to be 20. Lalo akong naiilang kasi Krystal calls me Kuya Mark, pero nasanay rin ako after a while, kasi in real life, si Ynna (Asistio, his girlfriend), 16 din lang nang unang maging kami.”
How about Kris Bernal? “Okay kami kasi we’ve worked before in ‘Time of My Life’, pero hindi kami ang nagkatuluyan dun kundi sila ni Rocco Nacino. Hopefully this time, kami naman ang magiging magkasama sa ending.”
How does he feel when folks say younger newcomers like Aljur Abrenica, Rocco Nacino and Alden Richards have overtaken him, career-wise? “I have nothing against them. Kahit iniintriga kami, we’re friends. I don’t compete with them. All I can say is narito pa rin naman ako and I’m grateful to GMA-7 for continuing to support me with shows like ‘Hiram sa Puso’. My goal now is to be recognized more as a serious actor. Kaya nga nagpapasalamat din akong binigyan ako ng kakaibang role in ‘Hitman’ and, so far, positive naman ang feedback sa’kin ng mga nakapanood ng movie na yun. So after these projects, sana, magtuloy-tuloy uli ang magandang takbo ng career ko.”
About Ynna, what can he say about Annabelle Rama suing her for saying she’s a pimp? “Ayokong manghimasok diyan at baka mas lalong gumulo ang issue. All I can say is I will continue to pray na matapos na sana ito. Maski si Ynna and her mom naman, ayaw akong madamay pa rito.
