MARIAN RIVERA was wearing a backless, body hugging outfit that highlights her tiny waist at the presscon last Thursday noon of her new sitcom, “Tweets for My Sweet”. “We thought you’re preggy,” say some writers to her, referring to a report that she’s now carrying Dingdong Dantes’ child.
“Naku, hayaan nyo na nga yang mga ganyang tsismis. Ganito bang buntis?” she points to her very flat tummy. “Ilang beses na kong natsismis na buntis, wag na lang pansinin yan. May nagsabi sa’kin niyan, dinedma ko lang. Then Dong even texted me about it. E, hindi talaga totoo. Kung totoo yan, ako na mismo ang magbo-broadcast sa buong bayan. Pero yung mga ganyang bagay, pinaghahandaan yan. E, hindi pa ko handa, no?”
Dingdong left that morning for Malaysia to help promote their soap, “My Beloved”, which is now being shown there daily for one hour. “I’d have wanted to go with him kaya lang busy ako dahil launch nga ng sitcom ko. But I told them na later on, I can go there for a meet and greet dahil may fans na raw kami roon.”
She’s happy their soaps are being shown in other countries. “Noong Holy Week, when we went to Cambodia, pagdating sa airport nila, may commotion. Tapos, sabi sa’min, they saw us in ‘Dyesebel’ and ‘Marimar’. We didn’t even know, kilala na pala kami roon.”
What can she say about Dingdong being paired with Angel Locsin and Angelica Panganiban in a new movie? “Okay lang kasi ako naman, I’m doing a movie with Coco Martin sa Regal. Nakakatuwa lang na stars from different networks, puede nang maging magkatrabaho ngayon.”
In “Tweets for My Sweet”, she plays Meg, who’s called Sweet by her Lolo Boy, played by Chef Boy Logro in his first acting role. Chef Boy teaches Marian how to cook in the story and she becomes a chef herself. When her Lolo Boy dies, he tells her and her sister, Barbie Forteza as Adele, that their mother is still alive and they should look for her in Manila.
They then go to Manila and she works as a chef at the restaurant owned by Roderick Paulate where she meets Nova Villa as Vilma, the Ultimate Singing Cook and Waitress known as the Star for All Reasons. Also in the cast are Sheena Halili as a former rich heiress who’s now penniless, Elmo Magalona as Barbie’s love interest and balikbayan actor Mikey Bustos as Dexter the security guard. This will be shown starting May 6, Sunday right after “24 Oras Weekend”.
Doesn’t Marian feel overworked taping for both “My Beloved” and “Tweets for My Sweet”? “Naku, hindi. Sa ‘My Beloved’, iyak ako ng iyak, lalo ngayon, magkakahiwalay na kami ni Dingdong. Makakasal ako kay Mikael Daez at siya, kay Katrina Halili. So doing something light like ‘Tweets’ is a welcome relief for me. Dito ako naga-unwind dahil masaya itong gawin.”
