MOTHER LILY used to have a special Mother’s Day presentation each time the occasion comes in May, with such films like “To Mama with Love”, “Minsan May Isang Ina” and “Mother Dear”, as her personal tribute to mothers like her. She’s now reviving it with “The Mommy Returns” that opens in theatres nationwide on May 9.
A horror-comedy directed by Joel Lamangan, it stars Gabby Concepcion from the original batch of “Underage” Regal Babies in the 80s and Ruffa Gutierrez from the 90s batch of “Underage Two”, with Pokwang as the title-roler Mommy who returns from the dead as a ghost to haunt Ruffa, Gabby’s second wife.
Supporting them are John “Sweet” Lapus, fresh from the success of his movie “Moron 5 & The Crying Lady”, Yaya Moi, Ervic Vijandre, Kerbie Zamora, Hiro Magalona, plus Kiray Celis, Jillian Ward and Gerald Pesigan as the three kids of Gabby and Pokwang who Ruffa is trying hard to win over as their stepmom.
