“I like my role, naiiba sa ibang father roles na nagawa ko na,” he says. “I have genuine concern for Coco, but he resists me. Ayaw niya kong tanggapin kasi nagrerebelde siya. So I’m trying my best to win him. Nangyayari naman talaga ang ganyang situations sa families today, di ba? So na-challenged ako.”
How’s it working with Coco? “He’s very dedicated to his work, very committed. You can see his passion for his craft kaya masarap katrabaho. He’s on the right track kasi we all know that when you love your work, it’ll love you back. Ganoon din naman si Angeline Quinto, she has a lot of potential and also loves what she’s doing.”
It’s common knowledge his wife Liezl is battling the big C. How’s she now? “She’s responding well to medication so her recent tests, very positive ang results. The whole family is behind her and we’re thankful to God for all His blessings. We live our life from day to day and we don’t even talk about it. She loves travelling, so every time free ako, we travel. Right now, I’m thankful sa work na binibigay sa’kin ng ABS. Aside from ‘Born to Love You’, I’m also in the daily soap ‘The Princess and I’ so maraming blessings.”
What can he say about his mom in law Amalia Fuentes’ current tiff with Annabelle Rama and Ruffa Gutierrez? “Naku, don’t ask me na lang about that. I’m a peace-loving person so ayokong sumali diyan. I’m just praying they’ll be able to settle their differences soon. Ako, ayoko talaga ng may kaaway. Nakaka-tension lang.”
