ANOTHER YOUNG star who was noticed in “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” is Ella Cruz as the teenage Cristine Reyes. She’s now being launched by ABS-CBN to title-role stardom as the teen mermaid “Aryana” that starts airing on May 7. “Aryana” is the story of a normal teener who turns into a mermaid when she celebrates her 14th birthday due to a curse.
Ella first joined “Eat Bulaga’s” Little Miss Philippines search. She then started acting on TV, like in GMA-7’s “Majika” where she was the young Angel Locsin, “Super Twins” as the young Nadine Samonte and “Marimar” as the young Marian Rivera. She then did “Goin Bulilit” on ABS-CBN and was Angel Locsin’s sister in “Only You”. She returned to GMA-7 as villain to Barbie Forteza in “Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin” before she did “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” on ABS.
She then auditioned for “Aryana” and was so happy when she learned she got the role. Supporting her are Paul Salas as her leading man, Tonton Gutierrez and Pokwang as her parents, Laurice Guillen as the shipping magnate mom of Tonton, Desiree del Valle as the witch who cursed her, G Toengi as Tonton’s second wife and mother of teen villain Michelle Vito, plus Tetchie Agbayani, Lotlot de Leon, Bianca Manalo, Chokoleit, and David Chua, helmed by Erick Salud and Lino Cayetano.
