SOLENN HEUSSAFF considers herself very fortunate for winning the Star best new movie actress and the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial most promising female star of the year awards for her performance in last year’s “Temptation Island”. She’s now also nominated as best supporting actress in the Urian for “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”.
“They’re all unexpected,” she says. “I’ll be the first one to say that I’m not really an actress, but these awards and nomination seem to be a confirmation that I’m doing something right, so nakakatuwa talaga.”
She now plays Ogie Alcasid’s leading lady in GMA Films-Regal co-production “Boy Pick Up”. “My name is Angel and I own a bakeshop na nalulugi. Then I got Ogie as Boy Pick Up to help me out at dahil sa pastry na gawa niya, which he calls, fishcake, biglang nag-boom ang bakeshop ko at dumami ang customers. He saved my business.”
How’s it working with Ogie? “We have the same manager, Leo Dominguez, so we’re like magkapatid. I’ve also guested in ‘Bubble Gang’ kaya we’ve worked na before. It’s super fun to work with him kasi parang laro-laro lang. Masaya lagi. They asked me to do scenes na kadiri, pero wala akong pakialam. I won’t say na kung ano para ma-surprise ang mga tao when they watch the movie. Basta kung ang tingin sa’kin ng mga tao before, unreachable ako, with this off beat scene, they’ll discover, ay si Solenn, luka-luka rin pala. It’s really fun.”
What about the rumored rift between her and Sam Pinto who plays Neneng B in the movie? “Naku, wala yun. Part siguro ng promo, para may intriga, pero wala talaga kaming away.”
Next month, she’ll be joining “Eat Bulaga” as guest co-host. “Medyo kabado ko kasi I’ll speak daw in straight Tagalog. Siguro kaya ko naman, let’s see. I’m sure I will learn easily sa mga kasama ko.”
