SAM OH is one of the two Korean hosts active on local TV today. The other is Grace Lee. Sam was born in a town an hour away from Seoul. Born on January 16, 1980, she was 6 when her family relocated to Manila as her dad put up a business here. She has a younger brother who returned to Korea to do military service and now lives there with his wife. She was in college in La Salle when the local Korean association got her to host a big cultural exchange event in Rizal Stadium with Monsour del Rosario as her co-host.
“It was then I realized I could do hosting,”she says. “Soon after that, I auditioned sa ETC and I was hired to host ‘Rated Oh’. It was a fun show that ran for 3 years and served as a good training ground for me. From there, GMA got me to host cooking shows like ‘True Confections’, ‘Sarap at Home’, ‘Delicioso’ and now, ‘Sarap to Heart’ with Chef Sau del Rosario, seen three times a day on GMA News TV at 10AM, 11:20AM and 5:50PM weekdays and also on weekends. It’s a cooking show na reality search game show rin as we feature a celebrity searcher and two non-celebrity searchees who compete through cooking on who’s gonna have a date with him or her.”
So far, the celebrity searchers featured are JC Tiuseco, Ervic Vijandre, Fabio Ide, Mikael Daez, Chloe McCully, Isabel Oli, Enzo Pineda, Rich Asuncion, and Stef Prescott. Will she invite Grace Lee to be a searcher? “Why not? Kung papayag siya.” She looks like Grace and Liz Uy who’ve both been linked to Pres. Pinoy. “Ako na bang susunod?” she laughs. “Joke. I already have a boyfriend, Diego, the guitarist of Sandwich band.”
If you want to be a searchee, you can send info about yourself to saraptoheart@yahoo.com and audition. Its open to guys and gals aged 18 to 30 years old.
