AIZA SEGUERRA played a man, Gary Coleman, in her last musical, “Avenue Q”. “I’m glad in my new play, ‘Rock of Ages’, girl naman ako,” she says. “I play an activist at moralista sa L.A. na kinakalaban yung rock stars dahil rock and roll is immoral. My equivalent daw in the Hollywood film version is Catherine Zeta Jones. Nahirapan ako rito kasi rock songs ang kinakanta namin, like ‘We Built This City’. More vocally challenging kasi hindi puedeng basta voice projection lang. Dapat talaga, sumisigaw ka. Ayun, nawalan ako ng boses and I had to cancel three gigs.”
Is it true and her ex-GF Chen Sarte broke up because she got jealous of Chen’s new talent, Cathy Go? “No, I don’t want to talk about it anymore. Basta hindi ako nagselos. Bahala na sila sa buhay nila and for people to think what they want to think, as long as my family and friends know what the truth is and they stand by me. Yun ang mas mahalaga.”
What about the rumor that she’s now on with “Protege” winner Krizza Neri? “I’m not confirming or denying anything. I’m her manager. I produced her debut album of ten soul pop songs, two of which I myself composed, one with music by Ryan Cayabyab. This is under my own label, Blackbird Records.”
Aside from “Rock of Ages”, what are her other projects? “I have a new soap to start taping next month sa ABS-CBN, ‘Be Careful with My Heart’ with Jodi Sta. Maria. Kasama rin ako sa new Enteng Kabisote movie for the Metro Manila Filmfest. Hopefully, we’ll start shooting pag tapos na ang run ng ‘Rock of Ages’ sa RCBC Plaza Carlos Romulo Theatre up to July 8.”
