WILMA GALVANTE was the one who started the hit Starstruck on GMA-7 when she was SVP for Entertainment. Now that she’s with TV5, she’s with the Kapatid Network’s own talent search “Artista Academy” via her school, the Asian Academy of Television Arts for those who want to have a career on TV. She’ll put up modules in training contestants of “Artista Academy.”
“TV5 wants to come up with a very legitimate venue where they can train their talents and this is it,” she says. “Dati walang ganung school, e. Ngayon meron na.”
Galvante will join TV5 Head of Creative and Entertainment Perci Intalan and TV5 Talent Center head Mac Alejandre in this project, along with Director Joel Lamangan to handle acting, Louie Ocampo to handle music and Georcelle Dapat of G-Force to handle dancing. What’s her position in TV5?
“Wala. I’m just the head of the academy. I’m not producing the show.” Is her school exclusive for TV5 talents? “No, it’s open to all, with the contestants of ‘Artista Academy as the pioneer batch. It’s not all about acting, we’ll also offer courses on various aspects of TV production like production design, scriptwriting and other fields.” What can Wilma say about the reported merger of GMA-7 and TV5? “I don’t know anything about that. Sa ‘Artista Academy’ lang ako involved.”
“Artista Academy” offers the highest prize package in talent searches. There’ll be two winners and each will get P1-M in cash, a P5-M peso contract, a condominium unit and a car. Open to everyone aged 16 to 21, auditions will be held at the Big Dome this coming Tuesday, June 19. If you think you are “mukhang artista”, by all means go there. The show will reportedly be hosted by Marvin Agustin after Aga Muhlach begged off.
