Band Vocalist Marc Abaya Plays First Male Lead Role In 'Faithfully'

MARC ABAYA and Diego Castro have something in common. They both have moms, Director Marilou Abaya and June Keithley, who are currently battling the big C. “She’s still in the hospital, up and down ang health niya, but we try to be very positive about it,” Marc says. “Basta wala akong ginagawa, I keep her company. She needs our presence, our love, and we give it to her unconditionally. I’m praying she won’t lose hope and keep on fighting. Her being sick help brought our family closer to each other.”

His mom is very happy that he’s playing a lead role in GMA-7’s “Faithfully” after doing supporting roles in shows like “I Heart U Pare” and “Daldalita”. Now 33, he’s a late bloomer in acting as he first joined showbiz as the vocalist of a band. He plays the man who causes the rift in the friendship of the leading ladies of “Faithfully”, with Chanda Romero playing his rich mom. “I’m thankful to GMA-7 for giving me this lead role and I promise to do my best to please them and also my mom who’ll be watching this every afternoon,” says the Johnny Delgado lookalike.
