After a long while, we were invited to ABS-CBN’s presscon for “Lorenzo’s Time”. Carmina is delighted to work with Kapamilya child wonder Zaijan Jaranilla in this Primetime Bida soap that will replace “Nang Dahil sa Pag-ibig”.
“I used to watch him as Santino in ‘May Bukas Pa’ at nagagalingan ako sa kanya,” she says. “When they explained to me the concept of ‘Lorenzo’s Time’ about a boy who has progeria so he’s frozen and wakes up 30 years later, I found it unique so I accepted it agad. Magkababata kami rito ni Zaijan as Lorenzo. But he was frozen nga, so hindi siya tumanda. Ako, nagkaanak kay James Blanco and we have a daughter, new child actress Belle Mariano, who also plays me as a little girl na friend ni Zaijan.”
Also with them are John Estrada and Dimples Romana as the parents of Zaijan, Kaye Abad as the aunt of Zaijan who’d later be Amy Austria-Ventura, Eric Fructuoso as Kaye’s husband who’d later be Joel Torre, Gina Pareño as the yaya, Alfred Vargas as Zaijan’s doctor friend and Rommel Padilla as Amy’s henchman, under the direction of Jerome Chavez Pobocan and Tots Mariscal, to be aired starting July 2.
Since their show is about time, how important is time for her? “Very important kaya ayokong may nasasayang na oras. When I get stuck in traffic, naiinis ako. I read a book so I don’t waste my time na nakatengga lang. Time is important so yung magagawa mo ngayon, do it now. Yung gusto mong sabihin sa loved ones mo, say it now at baka bukas, no more time.”
Would she mind working with ex-husband Rustom Padilla now known as BB Gandanghari? "Sa akin, if it happens, it happens. What happened between us is in the past. Iba-iba ng buhay namin ngayon."
