DIREK JOEL LAMANGAN is excited to meg “The Bride and the Lover” after the hit horror-comedy “The Mommy Returns”. “I miss doing a dramatic vehicle like this na may pagka-feminist,” he says. “We’ll soon have our last taping day for my TV5 soap ‘Valiente’. After that, I’ll act as acting mentor sa contestants ng artista search nila, ‘Artista Academy’, then I’ll be very busy doing one film after another. I just finished ‘Migrante’ about OFW’s with Jodi Sta. Maria and Allen Dizon, to be shown in July. Then I’m doing ‘Lihis’, about gay NPA’s for Scenema Concepts starring Baron Geisler with Ahron Villena. Dapat sana si Patrick Garcia pero hindi niya raw kaya. Then I’ll do ‘Menor de Edad’ for Jesse Ejercito, about female gang wars.”
He’s happy with Lorna Tolentino joining “Valiente”. “The story becomes even more involving with her character. You should out watch for her confrontation scenes with Jaclyn Jose. They sizzle. Parehong magaling. In ‘The Bride and the Lover’, it’s Lovi and Jennylyn who figure in acting showdowns. I’ve directed Lovi before in ‘Sagrada Familia’ and Jennylyn in ‘Blue Moon’, and they both won awards for these films. Dito, very challenging ang roles nila as they both play upper class socialites. Dapat, magmukha talaga silang mga anak mayaman in all their scenes.”
