DIRECTOR JOEL LAMANGAN announces that his film about OFW’s, “Migrante (The Filipino Diaspora)” that he shot on location in Israel, will have its grand premiere on July 15 at Robinson’s Galleria. Written by Boni Ilagan, this will not be just for one night as most premieres do, but for one whole day.
There will be screenings at 10 AM, 1 and 4 PM, with a 7 PM Gala Screening. The stars will be there, with Jodi Sta. Maria and Allen Dizon as the leads, supported by Chynna Ortaleza, Luis Alandy, Bangs Garcia, Rich Asuncion, Ryza Cenon, Raquel Villavicencio and Jim Pebanco. Jodi plays a domestic helper who comes from a family of OFW's that started with her dad who worked in Saudi Arabia. She herself has worked as a DH in Singapore and Hongkong before working again in Israel. Her husband, Allen, opts to stay in the Philippines to take care of their children. In Israel, Jodi is raped by her employer and she kills him. She then becomes a fugitive and it's other Filipino migrants who help her while she's in hiding.
