Direk Dominic Zapata Creates A New And Different World For Ogie Alcasid In 'Boy Pick Up'

THE LAST FILM Dominic Zapata directed was “My Valentine Girls”. “But it’s a trilogy and one episode lang dun ang dinirek ko,” he says. “So I’m glad may full length movie ako now, ‘Boy Pick Up’, an all out comedy. It’s very challenging to do kasi it’s just a short segment in ‘Bubble Gang’. We have to develop it to be a full movie. With the help of Ogie and our scriptwriter, Aloy Adlawan, we created an entirely new world for Boy Pick Up. So I have to immerse myself sa mundo niya para ma-gets ko yung jokes niya, and that’s what we show the viewers. May sarili ng huge following si Boy Pick Up na nasasakyan yung buong konsepto niya, so I think we have a hit.”

They gave an entire back story to show where Boy Pick Up comes from. “Ogie as Boy is the champion in the battle of the Pikapistas. Nagalit sa kanya si Dennis Trillo kasi ikakasal na lang ito kay Sarah Lahbati, but when Sarah heard a pick up line of Boy, iniwan si Dennis, so he plans to destroy Boy para makaganti siya. Si Boy naman, pinagnanaasan ng kanyang gay landlord, si Diego, but he refuses na pagbigyan ito. He then meets Solenn Heussaff as Angel, owner of Heaven’s Bakeshop na nalulugi, but when Boy started working for her, doon siya nakabawi.”

It’s his first time to work with Ogie. “Working with him is a team effort. Masarap siyang katrabaho. He’s so dedicated at kasali siya pati sa music and songs we use in the movie.”

“Boy Pick Up” will premiere tomorrow night at SM Megamall and opens in theatres on Wednesday, June 6.
