Gov. Vilma Santos Answers If She's Running For Vice President In 2016

GOV. VILMA SANTOS says Star Cinema wants to show her new movie “The Healing” on July 11. “But I told them that’s too soon,” she says at her launch as the endorser of Generics Pharmacy at Shangrila Makati ballroom. “Aalis pa ako next week, pupunta kami ni Sen. Ralph at ni Ryan Christian sa Hawaii for a one-week vacation. Sabi ko, let’s meet when I come back. Gusto ko naman, mas mai-promote yung movie kasi first time ko gumawa ng suspense thriller with Chito Rono and I’m so proud of it. Puro magagaling mga kasama ko like Janice de Belen, Kim Chiu, Pokwang. Yun nga lang, gory yung ibang death scenes dito so we’re worried na baka paghigpitan kami ng MTRCB. But Chito says ipaglalaban daw niya. The story is about doppelgangers.”

After this, Star Cinema is offering another movie for her for the Metro Filmfest. “But I told them hindi ko na kaya talaga. They even want me to do a TV show in time for my 50th anniversary in showbiz in November but, I don’t know, siguro TV special na lang.”

How about the indie film where she’ll play a Ma Barker character?

“Adolf Alix gave me the script. Pinag-aaralan ko pa. Nothing is final.” How does she feel about Nora Aunor doing an indie film with Direk Dante Mendoza? “I’m happy for her. Ako rin, may offer kay Dante and I really want to work with him kasi production designer namin siya noon sa ‘Imortal’ ng Viva at ang galing-galing niya. Kaya lang, I want to read the script muna.”

What does she think of the recent impeachment trial? “I think it’ll have a positive effect as government officials will now think twice bago sila gumawa ng kalokohan kasi makikita’t makikita rin pala.” Is she honest with her SALN? “Of course, Ralph and I have always been honest with our SALN. You can check it out. Even all the endorsements that I did, indicated doon.”

So how much is she paid as Generics Pharmacy endorser? “It’s not so much about what they paid me kundi yung magiging partnership namin sa Batangas with their affordable yet safe and effective generic medicines. They can help us in our medical missions and in our 12 district hospitals.”

Why did Generics Pharmacy, which has 1,350 branches nationwide, get her as their brand ambassadress? “We conducted a survey and seven celebrities came up. She emerged number one as she’s the most credible, being a great actress and also as a trustworthy and respected public servant,” says Pres.-CEO Benjamin Liuson. “After we met her, my whole family became her fans as she turned out to be so humble and endearing.”

Does Gov. Vi really use their products? “Yes, their pain reliever. Very effective. I won’t endorse it if I don’t believe in it.”

What's the truth about talks she's running for vice president in 2016? "I don't think as far as that. For 2013, I'm seeking for re-election as Batangas governor. It'll be my third and last term. May offers for me to run in 2016 but honestly, ayoko, mahirap yon."
