Jean Garcia Best Actress And Best Supporting Actress Winner For The Same Role

JEAN GARCIA won as best supporting in the Urian Awards last Wednesday night for her performance as the teacher in “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”, which won as best pic. Last March, she also won an award for the same film in the Golden Screen, but for best actress. Isn’t this some kind of demotion? “Hindi naman,” she says. “An award is an award, kahit saan kang category nanalo. Honor pa rin ito for me. I just feel sad I wasn’t there to accept my trophy personally kasi I’m taping for ‘One True Love’ at hindi ako puedeng basta umalis. It was accepted for me by my manager, Manny Valera, who later gave it to me.”

Jean is elated that the pilot of week of ‘One True Love’ rated very high. The story opens with her going to bed with Raymond Bagatsing, not knowing he’s already married to Agot Isidro. She also found out about the truth when she’s already pregnant. She agreed to Raymond’s proposal to her to just give him their child so he can give the baby a better future. But when the baby boy came out, she changed her mind. Agot steals the boy and gave him away to a couple who maltreats him. She makes Raymond believe that his child is a baby girl, who grows up to be Louise de los Reyes. The boy, in turn, is raised by an old woman, Caridad Sanchez, and becomes a cargador at the pier. For those who missed the first episodes of “One True Love”, it will be replayed this morning on GMA-7 before “Eat Bulaga”. Don’t miss it.
