Jett Pangan's Successful Transition From Being A Rock Singer To Being A Musical Theatre Actor

JETT PANGAN is now an established musical theatre actor but he actually started as a rock singer with the original members of the Dawn band formed in 1985 that included Carlos Balcells, Francis Reyes and the late Teddy Diaz. As a theatre actor, he started with “Tick Tick Boom” and has since won raves for his portrayals in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, “Urinetown”, “Next to Normal”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Legally Blonde”, “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”. He’ll be seen in Atlantis Productions’ three consecutive productions. He’s now in “Rock of Ages” as Lonny, the narrator. In September, he’ll play the lead role of Nino in “Nine”, a musical adaptation of Fellini’s classic

“8½”. That’s how much Atlantis top honcho Bobby Garcia and resident director Chari Arespacochaga believe in him. He gets to work with Broadway actor Mig Ayesa in “Rock of Ages”. How’s the experience?

“Great,” he says. “Mig is very cool and we’ve known each other since he jammed with the Dawn when we front acted for INXS some year ago. He’s very talented but very humble.”

Unlike the film that’s a flop, “Rock of Ages” on stage is a big sold out hit and now on its second weekend at the RCBC Makati Carlos Romulo Theatre.
