JON SANTOS is the only famous impersonator who mimics female celebs since Willie Nepomuceno refuses to do women. “Mahirap kasi talaga so we can’t blame Willie, who’s my mentor,” he says. “Sa kanila ako nag-train ni Tessie Tomas in impersonation noong early 80s.”
Jon came as Lady Gaga in the presscon of her new show, “In.Person.Nation”, to be shown at Teatrino in Promenade, Greenhills on June 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8 PM. The characters she’ll do are Ate Vi, Queen of Batangas; Miss Dioning Sapakyaw, the Queen of Gensan; Armida Siguion Macareyna, the OPM Queen; Miriam Defensive, the Senate Queen; Krissy Aquino, the Queen of all media; Shamcey Tsuptsup, the beauty queen; Vicky Below, the Pagpapabyuti Queen; and Be My Lady Gaga, the queen of Music. All his hit fave characters from showbiz and politics will also make guest appearances.
Produced by Gran Obra and written by Jon himself with Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado, the show is helmed by Chari Arespacochaga and Johann dela Fuente. The Whiplash dancers are his special guests in all shows.
It’s common knowledge that Jon had a same sex marriage with Italian-American Samuel “Wes” Stewart in Canada. “Seven years na kami and going strong,” he says. So what can he say about the raging controversy on the issue? “Naku, mahirap magbigay ng opinion diyan. Mga experts talaga ang dapat magtalo diyan, lawmakers, e I’m not an expert naman. Kasi baka may rights denied sa ibang countries na dito naman sa atin, hindi. Like, sa abroad, di puede sa ICU or ER ang hindi mo direct relative. Dito sa’tin, wala namang ganun. But I believe everyone should be given equal rights and opportunities to pursue their own happiness.”
Did they have a pre-nup? “No, pero meron kaming joint account na kaming dalawa at meron kaming joint account with our respective moms.”
