Alden Richards Is GMA-7's Next Big Leading Man

ALDEN RICHARDS is beaming these days. And why not? So much has happened since he was given the break to star with Louise de los Reyes in “Alakdana” a little over a year ago. He did films like “Tween Academy”, “Ang Panday 2”, “The Road” and his love team with Louise was reinforced in “My Beloved”. Now, their first solo primetime soap is doing so well, “One True Love”. It was originally slated only for 10 weeks but it rated so high it was extended to 12 weeks. The latest word is that GMA-7 is extending it further to 15 weeks or more than one season.

“All of us involved in the show, tuwang-tuwa sa extension,” he says. “Our writer Suzette Doctolero and director Andoy Ranay assured us hindi lalaylay ang story kahit extended ito kasi makapal talaga ang conflicts dito.”

A lot of press people believe Alden is GMA’s next big leading man. His fans are legion, even abroad, but up to now, he still lives in far off Sta. Rosa, Laguna. “My dream is to get my own house or condo in Manila, para mas malapit sa GMA. But priority ko muna is a new car as the one I’m using is a 2001 model pa.”

How true is it that he’s at odds with Louise’s mom? “Hindi naman. She just has ideas about our love team na hindi ako masyadong sang-ayon. But Louise and I, we’re perfectly okay. I think GMA Artist Center has talked to her mom na about this. Louise and I are just so happy that our fans accept our love team even if hindi naman kami in real life.”
