ALLEN DIZON has really come a long way since he started acting in the late 90s in such sexy films as “Huwag Po, Huwag Po”, “Tatlong Makasalanan”, “Hilig ng Katawan” and “Pamasak Butas”. He has made advocacy films that gave him acting awards like “Dukot” (about desparecidos), “Marino” (about seamen), “Patikul” (about coffee farmers fighting the Abu Sayyaf), “Sigwa” (about the First Quarter Storm) and “Deadline” (about the killings of media people), but he considers “Migrante” (about OFW’s) as the one nearest to his heart and he gives a very creditable performance.
“May mga kamag-anak kasi akong OFW’s so I can relate sa experiences nila and the families they left behind,” he says.
“My role as Jodi Sta. Maria’s husband is also very realistic, kasi nagkakamali rin, like may babae ako rito, si Bangs Garcia. But later on, nagbago ako at hinanap ko si Jodi sa Israel when she went missing there. Memorable sa’kin ang scenes sa Holy Land dahil napuntahan ko ang mga lugar where Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem at kunsaan siya pinako sa krus. Lahat yan, makikita sa movie.”
Allen is now also busy on TV, playing Pratchit, the trusted henchman of Gretchen Barretto in “The Princess and I”. He’s all set to start another socially relevant film, “Obrero”, also to be helmed by Joel Lamangan.
