Eddie Garcia At 84 Plays An Aging Homosexual Who Comes Out Of The Closet

AT 84, EDDIE GARCIA is actually older than Dolphy and also started earlier than the late comedian as an actor. He first acted in ‘Siete Infantes de Lara” of National Artist Manuel Conde in 1949. Dolphy started his film career with Sampaguita Pictures in 1952.

After 63 long years in showbiz, Eddie remains as active as ever. After playing the role of the family patriarch in “Legacy” on GMA-7, he’s now with TV5 in the suspense-thriller “Third Eye” with Eula Caballero and Lorna Tolentino. On the big screen, he headlines the Cinemalaya entry, “Bwakaw”, written and directed by Jun Lana. And he shows no signs of slowing down or retiring as his health remains in tiptop shape.

This early, some folks say he has a good chance of bagging the Cinemalaya best actor award in the Directors Showcase category for his portrayal of an aging homosexual who comes out of the closet late in his old age and befriends a stray dog, “Bwakaw”, the film’s title roler. Written and helmed by Jun Lana, it will have its gala premiere at the CCP on Monday, 9 PM. Shot for 10 days in Laguna, “Bwakaw” also stars Armida Siguion Reyna, Gardo Versoza, Alan Paule, Luz Valdez, Rez Cortez, Bibeth Orteza, Soxie Topacio, Beverly Salviejo and Soliman Cruz.
