ARNOLD REYES has two entries in the ongoing Cinemalaya Filmfest, “Intoy Syokoy ng Kalye Marino” and “Diablo”. This is no surprise as he’s one of the most reliable independent actors today. He has already starred in several indie films including Astig (for which he won the 2009 Cinemalaya best supporting actor award), Condo, Huling Araw ng Linggo, Vendo, Pisay, Pera-Perahang Lata, Big Time, Adela, and Imoral. In Intoy Syokoy ng Kalye Marino, Arnold plays Boyet Bagol, a celfone thief who becomes a Christian in prison. In Diablo, Arnold is Ruben, a farmer who tills the rice field owned by his family. Also starring are Carlo Aquino and Roeder Camañag as his brothers, Ama Quiambao as their mom, written and directed by Mes de Guzman.
Early this year, he got rave reviews at New York's Tribeca Film Festival, where another indie film he did for US-based Director Ron Morales, “Graceland”, was shown. It will also participate at Montreal ’s prestigious Fantasia International Film Festival and at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan . He plays Marlon Villar, a driver of a corrupt congressman. Arnold ’s performance has been highly praised by Tribeca saying “there are so many great performances in the film, and one of the most outstanding is that of Arnold .”
“It made me proud to be a Filipino kasi Pilipinas ang pinupuri nila roon,” he says.
Arnold, a Backroom artist, has also appeared in recent episodes of “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, like the Venus Raj bio. For inquiries, call Backroom at 4351108 and 4351120 or email at backroominc@hotmail.com
