TWO NEW SEXY actors are being introduced in Ronald Carballo’s “Pikit-Mata (Blind Submission)” that premieres at the Cinemalaya’s Huseng Batute Theatre this Friday at 9 PM: Jay Austria and Victor Escobar. They were recruited from auditions where there were 400 applicants. In the story, they play the sons of Nadia Montenegro and Mike Lloren, fish vendors, who are so poor they sell their bodies as a sideline. The film is about the sad plight of male prostitutes who are forced by their gay customers to do perverted things.
Both young actors have sex scenes with four gays each. Jay with Ernie Garcia, Soxy Topacio (who asked Jay to urinate on him), RS Francisco and Romano Vasquez. Victor with RS Francisco, and newcomers Dax Alejandro (as a gay cop who abuses him), Ross Uy, Dindo Salcedo (with whom figures in a deadly love triangle that ends in a fatal shooting in a mall.)
Jay, 21, is Jeffrey Dolotina in real life. The youngest of four kids, he’s studying nursing at Holy Name U in Bohol when he met Director Maryo de los Reyes who gave him the break to act on TV. Since acting is not a regular job, he also works as a call center agent. But he’s hoping “Pikit Mata” will open new doors for him. He doesn’t mind if his parents woul see “Pikit-Mata” as it’s just part of his job. He was last seen as a street bully in “Nandito Ako” of TV5.
Victor is Jundi Francis Cariso, 20, also the youngest of four kids from Paranaque. He has a two-year HRM certificate course from Paranaque and was working with Resorts World when he took the audition for “Pikit Mata”. Will he let his parents and girlfriend watch his debut movie? “Hindi na lang siguro,” says Victor who was David Archuleta’s double in “Nandito Ako”. “But I’m proud nakagawa ako ng indie movie na padadala sa filmfests abroad.”
Both of them are managed by Danni Ugali and see their appearance in a gay movie as a stepping stone to stardom, just like their idol, Coco Martin. It was Direk Ronald Carballo who gave them their screen names.
