TWO MOVIES of Janice de Belen will be shown simultaneously: the indie flick “Mga Mumunting Lihim” that premieres on July 25, 9 PM, at the CCP as part of the Cinemalaya Indie Filmfest and the mainstream movie “The Healing” that opens in cinemas nationwide also on July 25.
“They’re both big movies kasi parehong batikang award-winners ang director ko, si Joey Reyes for ‘Mumunting Lihim’ and Chito Rono for ‘The Healing’,” she says.
And her co-stars are also tried and tested actresses. “True. Sina Judy Ann Santos, Agot Isidro and Iza Calzado in ‘Mumunting Lihim’ and no less than the Vilma Santos in ‘The Healing’. Kaya naman kabado ko tuwing may shoot kami, kasi puro magagaling sila, so I’m challenged to also give my best.”
In “Mumunting Lihim”, her best scene was the one in the restaurant where she found out that her dear friends are all backstabbing her. “Riot yun. Nagmura kong katakot-takot, with matching obscene hand gestures. Naiskandalo lahat ng kumakain sa restaurant at pinanood na lang ako. But sa preview, it turned out to be the funniest scene in the movie. Talagang tawanan nang tawanan lahat ng viewers.”
Aside from “The Healing”, she is also about to complete another horror flick for Regal, “Ang Pridyider”. “This is not a remake of the episode I did for the late Ishmael Bernal in the very first ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ movie kundi a re-imagining of the story, this time by Director Rico Ilarde. Kasama ko naman dito si Andi Eigenmann.”
