NICO ANTONIO says he knows some folks will chide him as his own mom, Atty. Joji Alonso, is producing the movie where he plays his first lead role, “Posas”. “Pero di ko na lang pinapansin,” he says. “Pinagbutihan ko na lang ang trabaho ko and I hope they’ll judge my work, my performance, and not anything else.”
As a cellfone thief in Quiapo, his role is very physical as he did a lot of running during the sequence where he’s being chased by cops. He also has to climb buildings and rooftops. Then there’s the torture scene called waterboarding where he almost drowned doing it in four takes. “Pinaghirapan ko talaga ang trabaho ko sa role na ito. Yun na lang ang husgahan nila,” says Nico, a senior law student at San Sebastian whose wife Angela will deliver their first born, a boy, in October.
“Posas”, a searing drama about corruption among cops, is helmed by Law Fajardo and premieres at the CCP main theatre tomorrow, 9 PM.
