Christian Bautista Plans To Marry Singaporean-Romanian Girlfriend In 3 Years

CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA dismisses the rumor that he’s leaving ABS-CBN and moving to GMA-7 soon. “My contract with ABS is expiring this month but I leave it all up to my management (Carlo Orosa and Stages) and to God to plan my next move,” he says. “I’m on the crossroads now. I’m 30, I want to do something that will take me to another level. What that is, I don’t know yet. I’m still praying for that and I want to evolve, face a new challenge. I’m very open, my heart, my mind are open. Nothing is final. But whatever it’ll be, I will always be very thankful to ABS.”

Christian is celebrating his 10th anniversary in showbiz with “X Class”, a 5-night concert at the Meralco Theatre on October 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, with Rowell Santiago as concert director and Louie Ocampo as musical director. Why not a bigger venue like Araneta? “Because Meralco is where it all started. I first performed there professionally in the musical ‘The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe’ and later, in ‘West Side Story’. Also, I want a more intimate venue where we can have several changes of sets. Meralco has 1,000 seats only and everyone can see what I’ll do on stage closely. Unlike sa Araneta, pag malayo ka, di mo na ko makikita, e ang dami kong gagawin dito na high-tech, pati action scenes like kickboxing and muay thai that will be incorporated in the show.”

Who’ll be his guests? “As of now, I don’t know yet. I don’t want to depend on the guests. What we offer here is overall experience with high production values. This will surely be my biggest concert ever.”

Will his Singaporean-Romanian girlfriend Carla Dunareanu be a guest? “She’ll definitely watch it. Or maybe she’ll dance. She dances very well.”

Will there be wedding bells for them soon? “When I was younger, I said I’d get married at 30. But I’m 30 now, so maybe in 3 years.”

So what’s up for the next ten years? “I don’t really plan but God has been very good to me. I’ve really come a long way from being the lanky contestant in ‘Star in a Million’ na nagka-hit sa Warner with ‘The Way You Look at Me’, had hit songs in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, nakagawa rin ng movie sa Indonesia and ‘Kitchen Musical’ in Singapore, and acted in soaps like ‘Kampanerang Kuba’ and ‘Princess and I’. So I’m confident the Lord will challenge me and have something new for me to in the next 10 years.”

The eldest of three brothers, Christian is also helping his younger brother, Jordan James, who’s now also joining showbiz after trying his luck in ‘The X Factor”.
