JANICE DE BELEN is so busy making one movie after another. “The Healing” is still being shown while “Mga Mumunting Lihim” opens in theaters nationwide on August 22. Already in the can are two horror flicks: “Pridyider” with Andi Eigenmann and JM De Guzman and “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” with Lovi Poe and Dingdong Dantes. She’s now shooting two new films that are both entries to the Metro-Manila Films: “The Strangers” with Julia Montes and Enrique Gil and “Shake, Rattle & Roll 13” for Direk Chito Rono. She’s also taping “Ina Kapatid Anak” with Kim Chiu. She does have a very hectic work sked.
“Kailangan, no? Marami kong binubuhay,” she tells us at the presscon of “Mga Mumunting Lihim” that was Rated A by the Cinema Evaluation Board with 100% tax rebates.
She sounds like she’s not getting financial help from the father of her four kids. “I won’t say anything. I’ll just keep my mouth shut and let you think what you want to think.”
Did she and her three co-stars in “Mga Mumunting Lihim”, Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado and Agot Isidro, had an inkling they’d win acting awards for “Mumunting Lihim”?
“Wala, we just had fun. When Direk Joey Reyes offered me the role of Olive, yes ako agad kasi it’s a role you can’t do on TV. Ang character ko, jologs, mura ng mura, but may comic touch. May asawa pa kong hunk (newcomer Chris Lomotan). Tapos, lahat kami, nanalo ng both best actress and best supporting actress sa Cinemalaya. Kaya lang, wala pa kaming trophies. Sana, lahat kami, bigyan ng trophies for both categories para may mai-display naman kami sa bahay.”
Her career is booming, how about her lovelife? “None, but okay lang. I can’t accept this much work kung may lovelife ako. At sobrang ganda ng nangyayari sa buhay at career ko ngayon kaya I don’t want any distractions.”
