John Lapus Is Not Depressed That He'Ll Soon Be Jobless

JOHN LAPUS gamely announced at the presscon of “Of All the Things” that he will be jobless in two weeks. After “Showbiz Central” ended and he was not included as a host in its replacement, “HOT TV”, his soap with Richard Gutierrez, “Makapiling Kang Muli”, will be ending in two weeks.

“After that, wala na akong trabaho,” he sighs. “It’s good kasama ko rito sa ‘Of All the Things’ kaya may pelikula pa kong ipalalabas. But I don’t want to get depressed about. I think positive and I know mabibigyan uli ako ng bagong assignment kasi seven years pa bago ko mabayaran nang buo yung bahay kong hinuhulugan ko pa up to now.”

What’s his role in the movie? “I play Rocky, lalaking-lalaki ang pangalan pero bading pala. Ako yung sidekick-alalay-driver ni Regine Velasquez na laging may punchline. When we started this movie three years ago, hindi pa ko nananalong best actor. E, ngayon, naka-two best actor awards na ako for ‘Here Comes the Bride’.”

His counterpart in ‘Of All the Things’ is Mark Bautista, who plays Epifanio, the cousin and best friend of Aga Muhlach who always encourages the under-achieving Aga when he’s feeling down. Also in the big cast are Tommy Abuel and Pinky Marquez as the parents of Aga, and Gina Pareno and Ariel Ureta as the parents of Regine, directed by Joyce Bernal
