JULIE ANN SAN JOSE and Elmo Magalona’s launching film, “Just One Summer”, opens today and they’re hounded by the rumor that Elmo’s real squeeze is Lauren Young.
“It’s not true,” says Elmo. “Lauren and her sister Megan are close to my own sisters, Maxene and Saab, and also to my brother Frank. They’re more of family friends at pag lumalabas sila, sumasama ako so it’s always a group outing. Never kami lumabas na kaming dalawa lang ni Lauren, so hindi talaga kami. I’m not even courting her as I just don’t have the time considering how busy I am with work right now.”
His mom Pia is said to be now managing Lauren. “I don’t really know about that. I don’t know about the career path she wants to take. As of now, ang focus ko, yung love team namin ni Julie Ann and I want to assure our fans na wala silang dapat ipag-alala. No one is a threat to our love team so they should all support our TV show, ‘Together Forever’, now on Saturdays, and our first movie, ‘Just One Summer’.”
We were at the movie’s premiere at SM Megamall last Monday night. It was jampacked with fans of their love team and no doubt the movie worked for them as they were screaming their lungs out in almost every scene where their idols appear, especially when they were about to kiss and near the end when Elmo took Julie out on a special date.
Director Mac Alejandre has come out with a youth movie that aims to offer so many “kilig” scenes and he succeeds in this aspect. Julie and Elmo are ably supported by Joel Torre and Alice Dixson as his estranged parents, Boboy Garovillo as Julie’s dad, Gloria Romero as Julie’s grandma, and Cherry Pie Picache as the new girl in Joel’s life. Well crafted with good cinematography, production design and locations, we’re sure Julie-Elmo fans will love every minute of it.
