HOW COME the rumor linking Lovi Poe with Jake Cuenca won’t die? “Nabuhay uli kasi we’re in a new movie, ‘Lihis’, na nag-story con pa lang, di pa nagsu-shoot. We’ve remained friends naman after we did ‘My Neighbor’s Wife’, pero hanggang friends lang talaga kami sa dami ng trabaho ko ngayon.”
Lovi’s new horror flick, “Guni-Guni”, will open on August 22. She’s now also shooting “The Bride and the Lover” with Jennylyn Mercado and Paulo Avelino. She’ll go with Nora Aunor to represent the country in the Venice Filmfest at the end of the month for the Dante Mendoza film, “My Womb”. She’s also doing the post-production for “Tiktik: Aswang Chronicles” with Dingdong Dantes. She says her role in “Guni-Guni” is the most challenging of all.
“It’s not an ordinary ghost story. My role as Mylene is very disturbing for me to play kasi she’s kind of crazy and I’m worried na baka madala ko yung character sa bahay. Buti na lang I do have a crazy side. Baliw-baliwan. Bale ba, si Direk Tara Illenberger wants to shoot the horror scenes after midnight talaga, so we can feel the horror daw, kaya nakakatakot talaga.”
How’s it being paired with newcomer Benjamin Alves? “He’s okay. We have scenes na mahirap gawin but nagtutulungan kami. Since he’s new, akong nagbinyag sa kanya sa kissing scene and love scene. Tinulungan kami ni Direk Tara kasi kailangan talaga sa story at hindi basta siningit lang para masabing may love scene.”
In the story, Lovi, Benjamin and Empress Schuck are nursing students whose lives are messed up by the presence of a ghost in the house where Lovi is a boarder. But it turns out Lovi herself has a personal ghost that haunts her from her past since used to be part of conjoined twins. Empress plays her best friend with a third eye and can see the ghosts around them.
