LOVI POE continues to grieve for the passing of her dad, Da King Fernando Poe Jr., whose birthday is today. “You’d think as years pass, it’d be easier but nandun pa rin yung feeling na sana he’s still here with us para makita niya na active na rin ako sa acting career ko ngayon,” she says at the birthday party of Mother Lily. “I’ll surely visit him to pay my respect and to show that I still remember him.”
Her new movie, “Guni-Guni”, is about spirits of the dead. Was there ever a time she felt her dad? “Yung nagpaparamdam? Yes, pero sa dreams lang, hindi yung may nakikita kong apparition. Alam niya siguro, matatakot ako. But in dreams, I see mukhang happy naman siya.”
How is she and FPJ’s widow, Susan Roces, who just personally received the National Artist Award for FPJ from Pres. Noynoy? “Ever since, okay kami kasi napakabait niya. Recently, nagkatabi yung tapings namin. Paulo Avelino is in their show. E, pareho kami ng manager. Paulo fetched me at nag-hi ako kay Tita Susan. Super bait talaga siya.”
How about her own mom? Is it true they have a gap so she now wants to live in her own house? “My mom and I are okay. I got my own house para maging independent ako. 23 na naman ako, e, and she raised me to be independent. She and my sister naman have their own place. Pero may kasama kong cousin sa house ko.”
Is it true she’s so worried her hot love scene with Benjamin Alves would be so steamy that she requested it be shown to her first before it’s included in the final print?
“Hindi naman ganun. I just requested makasama ko in editing that daring love scene so I can give my own suggestions.”
But Mother Lily turned down her request, telling her: “Lovi, you should learn how to trust us. We built you up in ‘Neighbor’s Wife’ and ‘Aswang’ where you had love scenes with Jake Vargas and Paulo Avelino. Hindi ka naman namin pinabayaan dahil very tasteful ang execution doon. Matindi nga ang love scene nyo ni Benjamin, but I assure you we won’t make it malaswa o bulgar.”
