NEWCOMER Benjamin Alves says it’s a big blessing that he got Lovi Poe as leading lady in his first lead role in “Guni-Guni”. “I’ve seen her past films and she’s a formidable actress with strong screen presence,” he says. “It helps to act with someone na macha-challenge ka to give your best. She really helped me in our scenes together, including the love scenes kasi first time ko rin gumawa noon. She’s a real professional and gamely did everything our director told us.”
He’s shirtless in that scene. Is he ready to go sexy? “The acting workshops I attended say that as an actor, you should have no inhibitions. Puede naman but not at this time that I’m just starting. Later siguro, if it’s a really good project, why not?”
Was he affected by the recent floods? “No, I live in a condo in Mandaluyong, sa 18th floor, so safe ako, but I can see the surrounding areas habang lumalaki ang baha so I prayed for them.”
The fact that he’s Piolo Pascual’s nephew was no longer brought up during the presscon. We heard his manager Jonas Gaffud said it’s best not to mention this anymore as some Facebook haters are being nasty about it, saying “Pamangkin ni Piolo? Bakla din yan.” Benjamin says it pains him to hear this as it’s simply not true.
