DIRECTOR DANTE MENDOZA is acclaimed worldwide for his shocking films like “Kinatay”, “Serbis” and “Lola”, but he has yet to have a hit in local theaters. We hope his new movie, “Captive”, will find the wider audience it deserves. We’ve seen it and it’s a fulfilling if nerve-wracking viewing experience. We’ll review it in full later. Loosely based on the kidnapping at Dos Palmas, Palawan in May 2001, it stars acclaimed French actress Isabelle Huppert as a French social worker named Therese, Katherine Mulville and Marc Zanetta as the alteregos of missionary Grace Burnham and her ill-fated husband, with local actors Angel Aquino, Raymond Bagatsing, Rustica Carpio, Sid Lucero, Maria Isabel Lopez, Ronnie Lazaro and Mercedes Cabral. It’ll have its premiere night at SM Pampanga tonight and tomorrow on Greenbelt 3.
