THOSE WHO’VE seen “I Do Bidoo Bidoo” predict that it’ll definitely boost the career of Sam Concepcion. “Before this, hindi ko siya masyadong napapansin but after watching him in the movie, I became a fan,” says Manila Bulletin’s Shirley Pizarro. “Ang galing niya in singing and acting at matinee idol talaga ang dating on screen. Hindi siya nagpalamon to his more experienced co-stars na sina Eugene Domingo, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Gary Valenciano.”
Sam is turning 20 on October 17 but he looks younger than his age. He started his singing career as a child actor in stage plays produced by Trumpets like “First Name”, “Mr. Noah’s Big Boat” and “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” where he played Edmund Pevenzie. He then won in ABS-CBN’s “Little Big Star” and became a regular in such kiddie shows as “Sineskwela”, “Hirayamanawari”, the dramas “Mga Anghel na Walang Langit” and the fantaserye “Super Inggo”. As a teener, he did soaps like “Betty La Fea”, “Walang Kapalit”, “Lipgloss”, “Boystown”, “Good Vibes” and “Angelito, Batang Ama”. On the big screen, he did “Shake, Rattle & Roll 9 and 13”, “Way Back Home” and “Cinco”.
“But I consider ‘I Do Bidoo’ as my biggest movie ever as it shows me not just acting but also singing and dancing,” he says. “It’s also an honor for me to be acting with talented big names who bring out the best in me, including Tippy Dos Santos as my leading lady.”
He and Tippy play teeners who are forced to get married after he gets Tippy pregnant. The story shows the conflict between their respective families who come from different social strata since Tippy is rich and Sam is poor.
