MOTHER LILY didn’t really want to have a big birthday celebration when she turned 73 last Sunday. But because she just got Chef Sau del Rosario as the new food consultant of her popular hotel, Imperial Palace Suites on Morato-Timog Avenue, she decided to have a big bash to highlight the special dishes of Chef Sau, under whom she’s now also taking culinary lessons. “You should never stop learning in life so you can grow and improve as a person,” she says. “The next time hotel guests order food, maybe their meal is cooked by Chef Lily herself.”
Among her guests were Sen. Bong Revilla, Rep. Lani Mercado, Lorna Tolentino, Eddie Gutierrez, Snooky Serna, Sen. Lito Lapid, Carla Abellana, Nina Jose, Lovi Poe and Benjamin Alves of “Guni-Guni”, former child star Isabella de Leon (who did several song numbers and she’s good), Alex Castro, Directors Joel Lamangan, Maryo de los Reyes, Manny Valera and Gil Portes, Growl’s Leo Dominguez, Eat Bulaga’s Malou Choa Fagar, Arnold Vegafria and several new wards, and from the press: Joan Maglipon, Ricky Lo, Jun Nardo, Joe Barrameda, Allan Diones, Alfie Lorenzo, Ian Farinas, Salve Asis, Jun Lalin, Ana Pingol, Nits Miralles, Isah Red and Ernie Pecho.
Mother Lily looks much younger than her age. Her secret? “I have peace of mind. I’m happy with my friends. I exercise a lot. They say some people my age look older. Ako, wala pa akong retoke. And I remain busy, managing my hotel, Imperial Palace, and doing movies. Mas love ko pa rin ang movies.”
She’s now busy with “Guni-Guni” that premieres in Megamall tonight and opens nationwide tomorrow. Her next release is another horror treat, “Pridyider”, with Andi Eigenmann, JM De Guzman and Janice de Belen. She’s now busy with her only filmfest entry, “Shake, Rattle & Roll 14”. The three episodes are “Lost Command” with Dennis Trillo, Paulo Avelino, John Regala, Martin del Rosario, Alex Castro and Ronnie Lazaro; “Pamana” with Herbert Bautista and Janice de Belen; and “Unwanted” with Lovi Poe and Vhong Navarro.
To Mother Lily, happy birthday and many more blessings to come.
