TV5 FORMALLY officially launched their own indie filmfest, CineFilipino Film Festival 2013, at Ali Mall last Friday. They offer the biggest cash grant of P1.5 million per movie, as Cinemalaya gives only P500,000 and Cinema One, P1 m. This is in cooperation with PLDT-Smart Foundation (because their big boss Manny Pangilinan just love local films), Mediaquest, Studio 5 and Unitel Entertainment. The organizing committee is led by Vince ‘Ting’ Nebrida and Esther Santos PLDT-Smart who used to hold Cinemabuhay whose last movie was “Slow Fade”.
There will be two sections: full length film and short film. Eight full length films will be chosen and will get P1.5 each. There will be an awards night choosing the best film, director, actress, actor, and other categories.
Applicants should submit the full script and a synopsis. Deadline is October 8. The short film will get no cash subsidy but winners will get cash prizes. This is open only to students. Completed short films must be submitted between September 19 to December 31. Public screening of the films will be held from March 13 to 19 at cinemas in Gateway, Eastwood and Newport. All entries should be sent to the CineFilipino Filmfest office at 1196 Pablo Ocampo Ext. corner Zapote St., Makati. For more details and submission requirements, call 896-2049 or visit www.cinefilipino.com and cinefilipinosecretariat@unitel.ph. Even Pinoy filmmakers based abroad can join.
